We are a private, non-profit institution dedicated to educating children and families in the natural sciences. Through our interactive exhibits, educational programs and the preservation of our collections, the Museum strives to instill an understanding and appreciation of the world’s wildlife, ecosystems and cultures.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
