King Manor Museum was the home and farm of Founding Father Rufus King from 1805 to 1827. King was an author of the U.S. Constitution, as well as one of New York's first United States Senators, Ambassador to Great Britain and an early, and outspoken, opponent of slavery. King Manor later became the estate of King's son, John Alsop King, who served as New York's Governor.
Guided tours of period room settings will be offered between the hours of 1pm and 5pm on Saturday, September 27, 2008
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
