*Listing from Museum Day 2011*

This is one of the only Lighthouses within city limits, includes the keepers quarters building--allowing visitors to step back in time through the stories of those who kept the light burning from 1826 - 1972, many of whom were women.

Exhibits

The restored keepers quarters contains personal affects, diaries, artifacts, photographs and other items transporting visitors back into the era of the lighthouse keeper. Climb the 88 steps to the top of the lighthouse for a great view of Key West!

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
