The Kansas Cosmosphere houses one of the world's largest collections of space artifacts from both Russia and the United States. The collection includes flown spacecraft from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions as well as items such as V1 and V2 rockets which take visitors from the beginning of rocketry through the Apollo missions.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
