  • 9:00am - 5:00pm

The Indiana State Museum is located within White River State Park in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. It is Indiana's museum of science and culture. Even the building is a showcase of the best Indiana has to offer in architecture, materials and sculpture. In addition, there are 12 historic sites throughout the state who are also included in the MuseumDay celebration.

Exhibits

All permanent galleries will be open including the R.B. Annis Naturalist Lab. Special exhibits include Footprints; Balancing Nature's Diversity and a two gallery show titled "Making it in the Midwest: Artists who Chose to Stay". A sneak preview of the IMAX film "We the People" will be included until tickets are exhausted.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
