Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii tells an amazing tale of the night sky - how Hawaiians navigated the Pacific Ocean by the stars to how astronomers view the Universe from observatories atop Maunakea. The Center offers hands-on exhibits, a 3D stereo planetarium, museum store and restaurant.
Exhibits
Imiloa has more than 100 hands-on exhibits including a 3D stereo planetarium, a 6-foot animated view of Earth, ethnobotanical gardens, and a scaled-down replica of wa'a, a Hawaiian voyaging canoe. Exhibits are shown in both English and Hawaiian languages. Free headsets are available for self-guided audio tours.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
