Located in downtown Huntington Beach, the museum is open daily and staffed by volunteers. Surf bands play at the museum for free on many Sunday afternoons. The atmosphere of aloha radiates from the walls of this art deco building that has beautiful surf murals painted on the outside walls.
The International Surfing Museum has many exhibits. Featured exhibits are Duke Kahanamoku, Dick Dale, Surfing Walk of Fame, Women Who Surf, Endless Summer artifacts, Surfer/shapers Kelly Slater, Bob McTavish, Dick Brewer, Hobie Alter and the International Surfing Association.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
