The History Colorado Center’s hands-on and high-tech exhibits take you back in time, connecting what WAS to what’s NEXT. They’re unexpected, thought-provoking, and relevant. And most of all, fun! Join us for an inspirational journey that will ignite your imagination and touch your heart. Be part of the story.
- Navigate seven-foot-tall time machines across a
forty-by-sixty-foot map of Colorado embedded in the terrazzo floor. As you move around the map, high-tech video screens tell a variety of stories.
- Our 5,000-square-foot Destination Colorado exhibit, with more than 500 authentic artifacts, will introduce you to the 1920s dryland farming town of Keota. “Meet” the residents and learn about their dreams and struggles: enroll in high school, ride a Model T, collect eggs and milk a cow, climb into a hayloft, browse a general store and shop from a Montgomery Ward catalog, take in an array of aromas, from baking bread to manure...and much more. You’ll learn to care about this tight-knit, thriving town, built on the windswept eastern Colorado prairie – especially when you learn its ultimate fate.
- The 9,500-square-foot Colorado Stories exhibit, which examines eight distinct Colorado communities from the 1700s to the present. Each exemplifies the kind of courage, perseverance, and togetherness it takes to survive in Colorado.
- In the Denver A-Z exhibit, discover the heart, the art, the whimsy, and the energy of Denver's people, places, and moments. Tap into the essence of Denver letter by letter, from "A" for adrenaline to "Z" for zombies.
