The HCSCC collects, preserves, and presents the history and culture of Clay County and the region. The HCSCC also provides interpretation of the Hjemkomst Viking Ship and Hopperstad Stave Church Replica, and hosts traveling exhibits in 7,000 sq. feet of temporary exhibition space. The HCSCC is a community resource for 150,000 people in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area and serves an average of 40,000 visitors a year from all over the world.
Featuring "HJEMKOMST SAGAS: ONE DREAM, A VIKING SHIP, MANY STORIES", an exhibit about one man's dream to build a Viking ship and sail it from Minnesota to Norway and the people who helped make it a reality.
"THE BOOM: 1945 - 1960 IN CLAY COUNTY", from the GI bill to the Baby Boom, changes on the farm and TV to the Korean War, this exhibit looks at the exciting years that created modern America.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
