The Higgins Armory Museum opens minds and excites learning by engaging visitors' imaginations with its exceptional collection of authentic armor and arms, from ancient Greece to the Renaissance. Founded in 1931, it is the only museum in the Western Hemisphere solely dedicated to the collection of arms and armor, and is the second largest collection of arms and armor in this hemisphere.
On September 28th, in addition to arms and armor we welcome the world of J.R.R. Tolkein into our halls with Middle Earth Day. Hear the stories of elves, hobbits and men; sing their songs, learn about their armor, help them strategize against the Necromancer! Dust off your traveling cloaks and study up on your runes, or just comb your feet and join us for a day of fun and fellowship. For more information about Middle Earth Day, visit our website at www.higgins.org.
This venue will accept your Museum Day Live! ticket on the screen of your smartphone.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
