The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum occupies the old Allan Herschell Company factory complex listed on both the New York State Register of Historic Sites and the National Register of Historic Places. The factory opened in 1916 and closed in 1959.
Museums and cultural venues participate in Museum Day voluntarily. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for individual museum content or participation.
