Gilcrease Museum is one of the country's best facilities for the preservation and study of American art and history. Gilcrease houses the world's largest, most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West, including an unparalleled collection of Native American art and artifacts, as well as thousands of historical documents, maps and manuscripts.

Exhibits

Gilcrease Museum's permanent galleries include The American West, featuring works by Thomas Moran, Frederic Remington, George Catlin, Charles M. Russell, Joseph Henry Sharp, and more. Visitors may also visit Enduring Spirit: Native American Artistic Traditions, the interactive Kravis Discovery Center, and three temporary exhibitions.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
