The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art is located in a c. 1818 historic structure noted as one of Georgia’s finest examples of Federal style architecture and features contemporary visual art. Tours are available tailored to visitors’ interests in architecture, art and community history.

Exhibits

A Sense of Place juried fine art competition will be on view from September 18 - October 16, 2009. The exhibition unites an exceptional body of artwork generated by contemporary American artists from across the nation and demonstrates a variety of mediums, styles, and subjects.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
