GHCS Museum of Gary History and Culture Website »
The "GHCS Museum of Gary History and Culture" is newly located in the Gary (IN) Genesis Convention Center in downtown Gary, Indiana. The "GHCS Museum" contains pictures, artifacts, books, and sponsors on-going historical and cultural events that promote "pride and respect" for Gary, Indiana's unique place in American ethnic and cultural history. Formerly, this Museum was the 105-year-old Gary Land Company Museum, which is currently on a list of city buildings needing improvements.MUSEUM DAY 2013 will be the official start and public announcement of the plans to renovate and expand our city's MUSEUM.
One featured (and new) exhibit will feature people of varied ethnic groups who will be considered as Gary history-makers for an upcoming book assignment. This is based on our founder's program called "Sharing Our Ethnic Cultures and Histories" - in remembrance of the ethnic groups who came to Gary to work in the steel mill and stayed to build the City.
This venue will accept your Museum Day Live! ticket on the screen of your smartphone.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
