One of the best preserved frontier forts West of the Mississippi, Fort Concho has twenty-four buildings on forty acres just south of downtown San Angelo that reflect the life and times of the 1870s military and their civilian associates.
In addition to its regular displays and original buildings and interiors, Fort Concho will have a special display to mark the city's Great Flood of 1936, the 75th Anniversary.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
