Located on the St. Joseph River near Buchanan, Michigan, minutes from South Bend, Indiana. Fernwood comprises 105 acres of gardens and natural areas. Enjoy woodlands, a prairie, an arboretum, springs, ponds, a nature center, fern conservatory, art gallery, cafe, walking trails, and many specialty gardens.

Exhibits

Enjoy wood turnings by Larry Jensen in the Art Gallery and the work of ten sculptors throughout the gardens. The railway garden and all plant collections are open for viewing. Autumn Air Festival with food, music, gourd society show and sale, children's activities, and more.




Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
