The Everson Museum of Art is internationally recognized for its extensive and significant collection of ceramics, pioneering art video collection and distinctive structural design by the noted architect I.M. Pei.
The Other New York: 2012, a community-wide, multi-venue exhibition is the result of a major collaboration among 12 art institutions in Syracuse that aims to highlight the rich talent of artists across Upstate New York, with a particular focus on Central New York and the surrounding region. The Everson’s venue features 26 artists presenting work in the Museum’s main galleries as well as site-specific locations throughout the building. Outdoors, Cazenovia-based artist Kim Waale has installed an enormous spider web composed of handspun domestic plastic wrap stretched over the main podium of the Museum.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
