El Museo del Barrio welcomes visitors of all backgrounds to discover the artistic and cultural landscape of the Caribbean and Latin America. The richness of Latino cultures is represented in El Museo’s wide-ranging collections and exhibitions, complemented by performing arts events and cultural celebrations.
Caribbean: Crossroads of the World examines the visual arts and aesthetic development across the Caribbean, considering histories of the Spanish, French, Dutch and English islands and their Diasporas. The exhibition is groundbreaking, highlighting rarely-seen works in thematic sections from the Haitian Revolution to the present.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
