Exhibits

"Truth in Illusion"
Featuring artists Michael Bane & Pamela Stern

Truth in Illusion is the name of the newest exhibit at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center. It features two artists, Michael Bane and Pamela Stern. “The two artists are playing with your perception of reality, or maybe your paradigms of reality with their art. You have to really look to see what’s real,” said C.B. Williams, Curatorial Director of the DHCC.
“Michael Bane’s work encompasses so many images; everything from a windmill you are sure is made of wood (at right), to what looks like a Bazooka bubble gum wrapper. But everything you see is paint on canvas. It’s not what it seems. It’s not wood, staples, fabric, thread, beads, yarn, or a piece of notebook paper held with tape. You have to look at it more than once to make yourself believe what you are seeing,” said Betsy Pedigo, Operations Manager. “Many of Pamela Stern’s sculptures are figures that encompass another piece, another thought; a globe, a city, a house, a boat. They give you a lot to consider,” she continued.

Other exhibits include in the Martin/Hagman gallery information about Weatherford Native and Broadway Star Mary Martin and her son Larry Hagman. Artifacts and information about their showbiz careers. In the Historical Gallery learn about Parker County's first inhabitants, the Native Americans as well as the pioneers that came and settled our county.
