Decatur House is one of the oldest surviving homes in DC, and one of three remaining residential buildings in the country designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe. Today, visitors see a restoration in progress and hear the compelling stories of this unique site.
The Half Had Not Been Told Me: African Americans on Lafayette Square (1795-1965) is a special exhibit showing at Decatur House that explores the rich and varied experiences of African Americans within the unique landscape of the White House neighborhood.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
