Founded in 1825, the Connecticut Historical Society (CHS) is a non-profit museum, research library, and education center. Visitors of all ages can explore hands-on, award-winning exhibits and participate in public programs, workshops, activities and tours.
Current exhibits include This Won't Hurt a Bit! A History of Pain Relief, Behind the Wheel: American Automobile Association Posters, Making Connecticut, and the largest collection of 18th- and 19th-century tavern signs in the U.S.!
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
