Heritage Park & Cultural Center includes the Fort Walton Temple Mound (prehistoric ceremonial mound) and the Indian Temple Mound Museum which together share the technological and artistic achievements of the villagers that dwelled here. The Camp Walton Schoolhouse, Garnier Post Office and Civil War Exhibits represent Northwest Florida in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Exhibits

The Indian Temple Mound Museum interprets area prehistoric cultures covering 14,000 years. Artifacts of stone, shell and ceramic represent life from the Paleo era to Mound Culture and reflect the artistic, spiritual and technological achievements of the ancient lost tribes of Florida.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
