Situated on 6 ½ acres, the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert boasts 8,000 square feet featuring over 50 hands-on exhibits. The campus also includes a multipurpose performance center (for early childhood classes, discovery camps and family events), outdoor amphitheater and museum store.
The museum features over 50 hands-on exhibits, including Dig It, an Archaeological dig where children can dig for actual Cahuilla Indian artifact replicas. Other popular exhibits include: mini grocery store, pizza parlor, paint the Bug (that’s right, our signature VW) and pull yourself up pulleys.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
