The mission of the Carlton County Historical Society is to collect, preserve and disseminate the history of Carlton County, Minnesota.
The Carlton County Historical Society has two permanent exhibits in its museum. One shows the Logging Industry of our area and the other tells about the 1918 Forest Fire that devastated this region. On Museum Day a new exhibit will be on view called "Barns of Carlton County". A special program will be offered at 10 a.m. on Museum Day about historic farming in Carlton County.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
