Opened in 1932 to display "relics" of the area's pioneers; the great room resembles an over-sized miner's cabin. The "new"(1960) addition contains reconstructions of pioneer era home rooms, and many other artifacts of their daily lives. Come see the replica of the Dogtown Nugget, one of the largest nuggets found in California.
Many gold rush period items, including a gold needle used in an early mining camp, and a doll from a Donner Party survivor. Our fire department display now includes the Oroville Fire Chief's horse-drawn cart.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis.
