The Museum traces the area’s history, from saber-tooth cats to early 19th-century settlers to space shuttles. With hands-on fossils, a Windover archaeology video, Discovery Room for children, Butterfly Garden, and 22 acres of nature trails, the Museum has something for all ages.
Key exhibits include simulations of an archaeological dig of the 7,000+ old Windover burial site; early 19th-century settlers; and the area’s ecosystem. The By-Gone Beasts Wing will have a newly articulated Mastodon in addition to a Giant Ground Sloth and Saber-Tooth Cat.
This venue will accept your Museum Day Live! ticket on the screen of your smartphone.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
