Bowdoin College Museum of Art Website »
The Bowdoin College Museum of Art, one of the oldest collegiate art collections in the nation, today holds encyclopedic collections. The 2007 creative renovation of the historic building integrates the Museum’s traditional features with a dramatic new entry pavilion. Fourteen galleries feature dynamic, changing exhibitions.
Highlights include Edward Hopper's Maine, the first comprehensive exhibition devoted to the artist's artistic production in Maine between 1914 and 1929. Also selections from the American, European, ancient, and works on paper collections. Check www.bowdoin.edu/art-museum for most recent information.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
