As San Diego County’s first professionally-staffed museum on an Indian reservation, we are dedicated to the perpetuation and presentation of the local Native culture. The Barona Museum offers a unique educational journey for all ages. The museum’s collection represents thousands of years of history of the first inhabitants.
The Barona Cultural Center & Museum celebrates the ancient history and contemporary history through exhibitions such as Rock of Ages: Contemporary Music, Permanent Collection of Traditional Arts, The Barona Dictionary Project, The Barona Veteran Wall of Honor and a Barona History Timeline, a celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Reservation.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
