We are dedicated to preserving and promoting New Jersey's 218 year contribution to human flight, from the first balloon flight in North America in 1793, which landed in NJ, to the more than 13 American astronauts born here. Founded in 1972 We are the first state aviation hall of fame in the nation.

Exhibits

Our indoor and outdoor displays include aircraft, helicopters, artifacts, models, and interactive, hands-on educational exhibits for children. We also show a short historical video about NJ aerospace history to all visitors and have a research library accessible to the public. Our "Hall of Fame Room" contains busts and informational plaques for over 120 NJ aviation pioneers and achievers including Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and more.

Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
