Explore the wilds of Africa, the wonders of North American wilderness, Alabama's geologic diversity, renovated/expanded Dynamic Earth, and mysteries of 2000 year old mummies at Anniston Museum of Natural History. Open-air exhibits place you face to face with nature. Six surrounding gardens; fun store.
Experience seven permanent Exhibit Halls, featuring fossils, rocks and minerals, Alabama cave replica, a remarkable historic collection of birds, eggs and nests, Egyptian mummies, a stunning African Savannah recreation, dinosaurs, America's largest fabricated baobab tree, tiny exotic living frogs -- and one very ugly vulture.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
