Experience the history and splendor of Gilded Age Washington at Anderson House. This 1905 Beaux Arts mansion was the home of Larz Anderson and is now the headquarters of The Society of the Cincinnati, founded in 1783 to preserve the memory of the American Revolution.
On view will be “Maryland in the American Revolution,” an exhibition that examines the role of Maryland and its people in winning American independence.
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
