An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Textile History Museum in Lowell, MA, tells America’s story through the art, history, and science of textiles. At ATHM you’ll explore the fascinating world of textiles in a fun, interactive environment where you spin, weave, recycle, and design your way through textile history – past, present, and future.
The main exhibition, "Textile Revolution," which chronicles the story of the textile industry from the 17th through the 21st century, will be accompanied by the special exhibition, "The Color Explosion: Fashion and Fabrics, 1960-1975."
Participation in Museum Day is open to any tax-exempt or governmental museum or cultural venue on a voluntary basis. Smithsonian magazine encourages museum visitation, but is not responsible for and does not endorse the content of the participating museums and cultural venues, and does not subsidize museums that participate.
