Infants such as 18-month-old Sopo are the family jesters. Once, while the photographers watched, romping Sopo fell on his giant, grouchy father, who was napping. But Makumba just nudged Sopo away. “He has had a lot of surviving offspring,” says researcher Angelique Todd. “He’s a very good dad.”
