El Mirador, the Lost City of the Maya

In 2009, a student found stucco panels with heroic figures from the Popol Vuh, a sacred text that many believed was influenced by Spanish priests who translated it. Shown here with Richard Hansen, the discovery proves that it predated the Spaniards by millennia.
