Shooting Stars: Bruce Weber presents Jeremy Everett
I first got to know Jeremy when he was helping to cover Central Park with Christo and Jeanne-Claude in 2005. In those days, he would make something and cut it up or burn it. I said, “You do so many beautiful things, why can’t you share it with the world?” The idea of sharing was something new for him and exciting. I’ve always had a soft spot for men and women who climb mountains; Jeremy sent me some photographs of an adventure that he and his mom had ice climbing. Then there came numerous drawings, and written on the back of them were words that stayed for a long time in my head. I’ve kept all of them. Every time I see one of his drawings, paintings, photographs or an installation with some out-of-the-ordinary material, I don’t think of it as just art, which is a funny word to me—but I think that he is finally wanting to share what he most believes in. -- Bruce Weber
Bruce Weber, one of the pre-eminent fashion photographers of his generation, recently published the 11th volume of his journal, All American. Jeremy Everett, 32, is based in New York City.
