Frozen in Time
Two hikers stumble upon a naturally mummified, frozen corpse of a Copper Age man on a glacier in the Otztal Alps just over the Italian border. The mummy, or Otzi as he is nicknamed, is Europe's oldest natural mummy, dating back to 3300 B.C. Examination of the corpse's clothing, tools, tissues and intestinal contents sheds light on the life of Neolithic man. The mummy now rests in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, Italy.
