Four Dead in Ohio
National Guard troops, reacting to what they think is sniper fire, fired 67 shots indiscriminately into the crowd of hundreds of students at a war protest at Kent State University in Ohio. Four die and nine are injured. Witnesses say students, protesting a U.S. military action in Cambodia, were throwing rocks but they heard no sniper shots before the troops fire.
