Around-the-World Flight
American businessman and adventurer Steve Fossett lands his GlobalFlyer in Salinas, Kansas, some 67 hours after taking off there. He becomes the first person to fly an airplane around the world solo without stopping or refueling. Two and a half years later, Fossett is reported missing after his single-engine plane disappears over western Nevada.
