  • There was a longing in my soul to find a place that I belonged. As much as I loved the beautiful mountains, it was not my birthplace in North Carolina. After searching much of America, San Francisco won my heart. The climate is comfortable all year. We are a short drive from snow in the winter, hotter areas in the summer, and wine tasting all year long! You need only walk a block or two in the city to find an ethnic restaurant of some type to tickle your taste buds. The mountains roll down into the Pacific Ocean all around the bay area. There is more nature than I've found in most major cities. Egrets land in our backyards often stopping for a drink from my neighbors fish pond. Delightful birds singing their joyous songs. Monarch butterflies flutter around the blossoms in my yard as they migrate. The people are delightful and open. User friendly parks appear in each neighborhood throughout the city. The multi-cultural environment, continuously, offers something adventurous and exciting. There are numerous free events happening every week. For example: Last weekend I attended the open art studio event at various venues throughout the city, while sipping wine and sampling finger foods; a folk dance celebration with banquet open to the public; and a band concert in Golden Gate Park. All totally free!!! Living by the Pacific Ocean and and several blocks from Golden Gate Park....there is a relaxed, neighborhood feel. While I continue to enjoy traveling, there is no place in the world that offers a total package like San Francisco.
